The 3rd edition of Hospital Build & Infrastructure India will open its doors in a new location on the 7 - 9 December 2012 at Bandra-Kurla Complex, Mumbai, India.

Construction of new healthcare facilities and renovation of existing facilities in INDIA is booming. Healthcare - Government Initiatives

  • Development of healthcare facilities is one of the focus areas of the 12th Five Year Plan that runs from fiscal 2012-13 to 2016-17. India targets to invest over $1 trillion in infrastructure development during the next five years.
  • India will increase spending on healthcare to 2.5 percent of its gross domestic product (GDP) during the 12th Five Year Plan that starts April 1, 2012, from the present level of around 1 percent.
  • 100% foreign direct investment (FDI) is permitted for health and medical services under the automatic route
  • The National Rural Health Mission (NHRM) had allocated US$ 10.15 billion for the up gradation and capacity enhancement of healthcare facilities
  • To meet the revised cost of construction, the Government allocated an additional US$ 1.2 billion for 6 upcoming AIIMS-like institutes and up gradation of 13 existing Government Medical Institutions

The Development and Refurbishment of New and Current Hospitals Across the Country and the Region:

  • Max Healthcare India plans to develop 4 hospitals to increase 2,000 beds
    • Plans to increase its capacity to 5,000 beds in the next 5 years through mergers and acquisitions
  • The Hyderabad-based Global Hospitals Group plans to invest over Rs 500 crore during 201
    • To expand hospital network
    • Improvise the facilities for cancer care centers
  • Vasan Healthcare to invest USD 65 million to new hospitals
    • Plans to develop 45 hospitals in March 2012
    • 25 new hospitals are expected to be built in July 2012
  • Apollo Hospitals Group to increase beds capacity
    • Increase 2,000 beds in 24 months
    • Develop 5 hospitals each year with 200 beds, with a vision to raise a total capacity of 20,00
    • Plan to develop hospital in Kerala with an investment of amounted to USD 35 million
  • Fortis, International Centre for Robotic Surgery (ICRS) to invest Rs USD 20 million for robotic surgery centres
    • To set up 10 ICRS
    • To increase 6-10 centres in 2013
